Losing weight can be difficult and sometimes you need a helping hand. In response to concerns about obesity levels, Cannock Chase Council have developed a free health and wellbeing App to help people monitor their weight and boost their overall wellbeing.

This was such an interesting and rewarding project to work on. Collaboration is something I advocate so it was particularly satisfying to work on a truly collaborative project. The free mobile App called ‘Cannock Chase Can’ is part of a Council-led health improvement programme to help residents of all ages lead heathier lives.
The App allows users to create a personal profile which includes their healthy weight, personal goals and individual wellness journey. Local community organisations and groups worked together to create a series of challenges which App users complete and are personalised to the user, with trophies awarded as they complete levels. Special offers from local organisations are also incorporated into the App.
A partner of Daredevil Creative, beuie, developed the App whilst I focused on the design work. I designed the overarching brand and all the user interface screens used across the App.
I particularly enjoyed developing the creatives for the interactive wellness wheel which visually shows a user’s score against the eight wellbeing elements. I also created all the social media graphics and marketing collateral to ensure consistency of branding across all campaign materials.
The App was showcased on a national stage when it was shortlisted in the Innovation category of the LGC Awards 2023, the biggest celebration of local government excellence. Held in London, I attended the awards alongside teams from Cannock Chase Council and Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles.
